A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Arkansas by both my parents. I am the youngest of five children. I lived in Missouri with my husband and children for twelve years, while completing my education and beginning my career in social work. We then moved back to Arkansas until a change in my husband's career brought us to New Mexico in late 2020, basically state unseen. People frequently ask what I think of the state. I love it! New Mexico sunrises and sunsets are truly painted by God each day! When I crossed that state line from Texas to New Mexico, I felt like I was home. I have since learned that I do have family roots in New Mexico as far back as the 1900's, so maybe I am just returning to my roots.I have walked through some difficult circumstances that allows my empathy to go beyond just putting myself in someone else’s shoes.
My life is blessed but I have also be touched in my own life and in my immediate family by poverty, homelessness, abuse, emotional neglect, domestic violence, substance use and abuse, suicide, teen pregnancy, divorce, loved one's incarcerated, tragic and untimely deaths, the death of parents and grandparents, miscarriages, the death of a child, mental illness, and chronic health issues just to name a few. My professional experience includes working with children and families involved in the foster care system, inpatient medical and psychiatric hospital, mental health, primary care setting, homeless services, running a transitional housing program for single parent families.
EXPERIENCE
I enjoy leading groups, couples counseling, family and individual therapy. I have experience in counseling with children, women, men, couples and families. Much of my career has been working with survivors of abuse, neglect and other traumatic events; those dealing with medical issues and housing insecurity, as well as reconciliation and restoration in relationships. I am passionate about helping break the cycle of abuse, neglect, and addiction, helping survivors overcome feelings of shame and guilt, and learn to live as overcomers. I enjoy working with single parents to address challenges and opportunities of co-parenting, blending families, or going it alone with children. I also have a heart towards seeing healing in relationships. I enjoy helping people face transitions that occur throughout the life cycle: like marriage, becoming an empty nester, helping with aging parents, or death of a loved one, I have helped many walk through life's challenges successfully.
In addition to being a licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am a certified case manager, a certified financial social worker, certified master life coach, trained in wraparound services, P.R.E.P. Relationship Education, and volunteer coordination.
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN FAITH-BASED SERVICES
I meet my clients where they are but I do believe that many counseling principles are rooted in Biblical truths. Through person-centered, evidenced-based, strength-based, and solution-focused interventions, individuals, couples and families are able to bring lasting change as they engage in the healing process. My purpose is to serve individuals, families, groups, churches and the community as a whole to live the abundant life God created us to have. I believe that sound counseling can be both evidenced-based and Christ-centered.

My greatest joy as a social worker is seeing people live out Romans 8:18
Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
