“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
The only way to get rid of emptiness is to fill it. ~ Jonathan Cahn
What a powerful notion. Too often we try to combat evil with a long discourse on what is wrong with specific behaviors. Or we try punishment that is extremely harsh. Research shows Scared Straight programs are rarely successful. What is harder, especially in the flesh, is to fill the emptiness of evil by doing good.
What if as believers we just kept doing good instead of fighting with those we see doing evil things? What if we stop trying to guilt or shame people into good? There could be more good than evil if we walked in the love of Christ.
If we focus on the good, our perspective will change to God’s perspective. We can let Him do the fighting. We can just keep doing good. The battle belongs to the Lord. Vengeance belongs to the Lord. We are called to be strong in the Lord. We are more than conquerors.
Our armor is a whole armor of God, it is for the schemes of the devil, not to wage war against people. Out battle is not against flesh and blood. God‘s word is an active sword but it was not meant as a weapon against people. It is meant to war against our own thoughts, intents, and motives. It is meant to war against our adversary the devil.
We are called to do good. And to battle in the heavenly realm. The next battle with people will be the Armageddon. It’s good for me to remember when my flesh wants to lash out at people.
We are called to fill the world with good. We are called to stand in victory. We are called to fight in faith in the heavenly’s. That is deep.
Prayer – Lord thank you for this revelation. Help me to just keep doing good! Help me to stop fighting with people to stand in victory as more than a conqueror and do the waging of war against the enemy only and not people. Quiet my mouth except to speak to You and to share your Word for the furthering of the kingdom.
